Vagabond Mermaid Guesthouse

I had a wonderful week at Vanessa's... and Charlie's. They both welcomed me to tour the house. This house is perfectly arranged to feel directly at home. The kitchen is great, as are the two bathrooms. Breakfast is well stocked and everyone will find something to their liking. But I especially remember Vanessa's kindness, always available to answer questions and give good addresses. Thanks to her. Thanks to Charlie who kept me company one night when I was eating alone in the backyard. A nice pleasant tête-à-tête like this house.

Vanessa was a wonderful host—so kind, easy to talk to, and very accommodating. She answered all my questions promptly and made me feel right at home. The location was excellent, close to the city center with convenient parking nearby, and the breakfast selection was thoughtful and delicious. As a solo traveler, I felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of throughout my stay. I would happily return and highly recommend Vanessa’s place!

We were so happy to stay at Vanessa’s place! The location is perfect only about 10 minutes drive from the airport, and 10 minutes walk to the city centra. The accommodation is cozy and comfortable, and Vanessa is the nicest host you can think of. She gave me clear instructions for the arrival, and was helpful with anything we needed. She even prepared a welcome gift for my little daughter - a bracelet with her name. The breakfast was delicious, too. And we simply loved Vanessa’s dog Charlie. ❤︎ We can nothing but reccommend Vanessa, and we hope to come back soon.

Vanessa was a wonderful host that loved to connect with her guests and wanted to make her guests feel at home. She came with great suggestions and was super friendly. If u had any requests of some sort she was more than happy to fulfill them. And we can’t forget the homyness of Vanessa’s sweet dog Charlie who made the stay feel like a home away from home. We wouldn’t want to have chosen any other place. If we could give her 10 stars we would.

Staying at Vanessa’s place was an absolute dream! She is truly one of the friendliest and warmest people I’ve ever met — so welcoming and always quick to respond. She also gave me amazing recommendations for restaurants and shopping, which made my stay even better. Her home is just beautiful — spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, and full of charm. It genuinely felt like a home away from home. And Charlie, her sweet dog, completely stole my heart — I already miss her ! The location is perfect — only a 10-minute walk to the center and about 10 minutes from the airport. Super convenient! And I have to mention the breakfast — absolutely delicious! She has a great coffee machine, and each morning there was the most amazing Azorean bread, fresh eggs, juices, muffins, and more. It was such a treat to start the day like that. I had a great stay at Vanessa's Guesthouse – it was everything I could have hoped for and more. Vanessa is a proactive yet discreet host who pays great attention to details and make guests feel comfortable and welcome. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options – including great choices for vegans. Being able to use the kitchen was a big plus and made the stay even more convenient. The apartment is ideally located: right in the center, yet in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Everything is easily within walking distance. I felt very safe and at home throughout my stay and would absolutely book again. Thank you for everything!

Where do i begin?!! Vanessa is truly an incredible hostess. She is so kind and so welcoming. I had just sailed across the Atlantic so to stay in Vanessa's place was truly a blessing. I arrived in quite a state and yet she didn't bat an eye, she was caring and ensured i had what i needed. She even did some laundry for me, i couldnt be more thankful. The breakfast was amazing , the bedroom was so comfortable, excellent shower; everything i needed to reset myself after over 3 weeks at sea! Not only did i get to experience her incredible hosting and lush home, she even ensured i got to experience the culture of the city by inviting me with her and her friends to the biggest festival of the year! She also got me to tag along with her friends on a beautiful hike up to natural hot springs. Considering i only stayed for 2 nights, it was honestly one of the best little vacations ive had, what a gem! Amazing location and an excellent guesthouse , Vanessa you're the best!!

To say the Vagabond Mermaid is one of the best, if not THE best on the list of places that I've stayed at would be a huge understatement. I can't possibly put into words about what a positive and exceptional experience it was to stay at Vanessa's home. Where to start? First, Charlie is just the sweetest and so precious. Not so secret, half of the reason I booked the place was because of Charlie! Secondly, Vanessa goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. She has now set the bar so high for future host experiences. Not only does she lovingly put out breakfast every morning, she makes every effort to know every guest and give exceptional recommendations and suggestions on things to do and eat on the island. Not once did I feel like I was a stranger in Vanessa's home. It felt so cozy that now I'm homesick, not for home but for Vagabond Mermaid! I'll be sure to come back again, not just because for the beauty of the Azores, but Vanessa, Charlie, and their home are rare gems.
